Bath Panthers basketball club was established in 2018 and was an immediate success, with classes across all age groups being in high demand.

Bath Panthers is a provides a Fun, Supportive & Stimulating environment in which players can achieve their best!

Age Groups

We offer coaching classes for players ranging from school year 4 to year 13.

Excellent Coaching Venues

Our coaching takes place at various venues in Bath. Our competitive matches take place at the excellent Bury Park Sports Centre (Prior Park College, Bath) the Amy Williams Sports Hall (Hayesfield Girls School, Bath) and the newly refurbished sports hall at Beechen Cliff School, Bath).

All coaching sessions (Squad & Advanced) are led by highly experienced basketball coaches.

Unique Syllabus

Our Lead coaches follow the unique Bath Panthers coaching syllabus which develops both the technical and tactical skills for players across all ages and abilities, enabling them to achieve their full potential.

Intra-Club Monthly Tournament

On the first week of very month the coaching syllabus makes way for the highly popular Panthers Intra-Club Tournament, when players are split into teams and play a series of tournament style matches.

Our Intra -Club Tournaments are a great opportunity for players to put into practice the skills and tactics they have been taught at coaching sessions during the previous month, as well as preparing them for competitive matches with Bath Panthers against other basketball clubs.

Player Development Pathway

We offer a clear and progressive development pathway for our players. The pathway involves stages of development:

1. SQUAD coaching
2. Competitive Matches for SQUAD players against other Clubs in the region
3. ADVANCED coaching + National Basketball League

SQUAD Level

This is our first stage of development and is open to players of all abilities. Coaching sessions follow the Panthers SQUAD syllabus which focuses on developing the technical and tactical foundations of basketball.

SQUAD players also have the opportunity to develop their competitive ability by joining a Bath Panthers Team and playing matches against other clubs within the region. See below for details about joining a Bath Panthers team in your age group

What to Wear

Please come in sports kit and indoor trainers/basketball boots. If you have a Bath Panthers basketball Team kit we encourage you to wear it to coaching sessions.

Coaching Venues in Bath

* Beechen Cliff School Sports Hall, Bath, BA2 3HR

(There is parking on the school site although it can become busy some evenings. After entering the school follow signs for sports hall)

* Prior Park College (Bury Sports Centre), Ralph Allen Drive, Bath, BA2 5AH

The sports centre is located close to the exit to the college, it is a one way system in the college. Please use the parking area adjacent to the woods just before you reach the tennis courts. The sports centre is a 3 minute walk beyond the tennis courts and cricket pitches. If you're dropping off/picking up this can be done outside the sports centre, however, there is no parking permitted in this area.

Important: Travel within the Prior Park College site must be limited and under no circumstances should visitors explore the site beyond the facility they are attending. This is significant safeguarding risk for the college, particularly the boarding community, for which Prior Park is their home.

Arrive Punctually

Please aim to arrive no later than 5 minutes prior to your session starting.

Bring your own Basketball

Whilst we provide basketballs in all sizes (5, 6, 7) we encourage players to bring their own ball along to coaching sessions.

Bring a Drink

Whilst there are water fountains at all of our coaching venues we ask that you bring a water bottle (with your name on) to all coaching sessions.

There is parking within the school sites at Beechen Cliff & Prior Park

Join a Bath Panthers Team, 2023/24

This season Bath Panthers is running teams in the following age groups:

U11/U12 (school yr 6/7)

U13/U14 (school yr 8/9)

U15/U16 (school yr 10/11)

When are matches played?

Matches are usually on a Saturday or Sunday

How is selection made?

We will aim to select players based on the strength of the opposition team so that we have competitive matches whenever possible. Our aim will be to send out roughly the same number of invites to all players over the course of the season, subject to the length of time a player has been registered to their team.

How many match invites can I expect to receive?

We aim to send a minimum of 6 invites to all players joining a team before Jan. 2024 and a minimum of 3 invites to players joining a team from Jan. 1st 2024 onwards

How will I receive invites to play in a match?

Once a player is confirmed a place in Bath Panthers team they will be given a code and asked to download the Spond App. which our club uses to send out match invites?

How do I buy a Bath Panthers team kit?

All Panthers players will need to have a team kit in order to play. As kits can take up to 5 weeks to arrive with you from the kit supplier, team managers will be able to provide new players with a team vest on match days until your kit arrives

Do you play in a Basketball League?

This season we will be arranging competitive matches with other basketball teams within a 1hr drive from Bath.

Bath Panthers Joining National Basketball League Season 2024/25

Season 2024/25 we will be entering teams into the National Basketball League, which will mean significantly more matches for our players. For specific details please contact Cormac O'Callagham (Head of Basketball) BathPanthers@gmail.com    

What is the cost to join a Bath Panthers Team?

We a have kept this seasons Player Fee the same as the previous season

Players joining before 1st Jan. 2024, £60

Players joining from Jan. 1st 2024, £30

DISCOUNT for last season's Bath Panthers team players

If you paid to join a Bath Panthers team last season you will be entitled to a deduction on this season's, worth 50% of the fee that you paid last season. This deduction is to reflect the lower than expected number of matches that were played.

Please email Admin@SportBath.com if you believe that you are entitled to a deduction on this season's Team ee so that we can confirm the amount. When you email please state the amount you paid, the date of the payment, the name of the payee and any reference used with your payment - this will allow us to trace your payment.
